Tips for a warm bedroom
- Warm the room 30–60 minutes before bed
- Use the thermostat, not maximum heat
- Close curtains and doors
- Keep the heater clear of bedding and curtains
Why wall-mounted suits bedrooms
Bedrooms are often small, with little floor space. A heater on the wall stays out of the way and out of reach of children and pets.

WarmFall in the bedroom
WarmFall is a 2000W plug-in wall heater with a ceramic core, adjustable thermostat, remote control, overheat cut-out and 8-hour auto-off. It mounts about 1.8m up the wall with 2 screws and blows warm air down to where you sit.
What type of heater is best for a bedroom?
The best type depends on whether you need quick warmth before bed, steady heat through the evening or low operating noise. Fan heaters circulate warm air quickly but make sound while the fan runs. Panel heaters generally warm more gradually and may be quieter. Oil-filled electric radiators can retain warmth after switching off, though they take time to heat and occupy floor space.
Compare thermostat and timer controls, room suitability and safe placement. Keep any heater at least 1m from curtains, bedding and clothing, and never cover it. For a bedroom, make sure the appliance cannot be covered by a duvet or obstructed by furniture. Follow the manufacturer's room-use and overnight instructions rather than assuming every model is suitable for sleeping hours.

Can you use an electric heater in a bedroom overnight?
Check the manufacturer's instructions before using a heater while asleep or unattended. Some appliances have timers or automatic shut-off, but these do not make unsafe placement safe. Bedding can shift, curtains can fall, and a heater may be accidentally covered. If the instructions do not clearly allow the intended use, switch it off before sleeping and consider another safe way to maintain room warmth.
Keep the appliance at least 1m from fabrics, never cover it, and plug directly into a wall socket—not an extension lead. Make sure the plug is not hot. A thermostat can maintain a setting while the appliance is in use, but should not replace appropriate supervision or the guidance supplied with the heater. Seek advice if a person in the room may be unable to respond to a problem.
How much does a bedroom heater cost per night?
Work it out from power, hours and tariff. A 2kW heater running at full power for four hours uses 8kWh. At 26.32p/kWh, the estimated cost is about £2.11. For two hours, it is about £1.05. These figures assume continuous full output and use the stated unit rate; they are estimates, not a prediction of your bill.
A thermostat may reduce consumption by switching the heating element off once the room reaches its chosen temperature. Your actual cost depends on insulation, outside temperature, settings and use. Check your electricity unit rate on a recent bill and substitute it in the calculation. Do not assume that heating a bedroom with electricity will always cost less than another heating method.

Where should a bedroom heater go?
Place a heater on a stable surface or mount it exactly as instructed, away from the bed, curtains, wardrobe and other combustible or fabric items. Maintain at least 1m clearance from fabrics and leave air openings unobstructed. Ensure bedding cannot drape over the unit and nobody can accidentally knock it while getting in or out of bed.
Use a suitable wall socket and keep the plug accessible; never use an extension lead. A wall-mounted heater can reduce floor clutter, but it must be fixed to an appropriate wall using the specified fittings. Avoid locations where steam or water may reach the appliance, and observe any restrictions in its instructions. Switch off and seek advice if the plug, socket or cable becomes hot or damaged.

What features make a bedroom heater easier to use?
An adjustable thermostat can help maintain a chosen temperature, while a timer can limit use to a defined period. A remote may be convenient, but keep it somewhere it cannot be pressed accidentally under bedding. Consider fan noise, display brightness and whether controls can be operated without stretching across the room.
Safety features such as an overheat cut-out and automatic shut-off are useful, but do not replace safe positioning and supervision. WarmFall is a 2000W plug-in wall heater with adjustable thermostat, remote, overheat cut-out and 8-hour auto-off; its ceramic core blows warm air down and it has a cool-touch casing. Check its instructions and room suitability before use in a bedroom, and do not infer that the timer permits unattended overnight operation.
Frequently asked questions
Is it safe to sleep with a heater on?
It's safest not to run any heater unattended overnight. Use a heater with an auto-off timer so it switches off after you fall asleep.
What temperature should a bedroom be?
Many people sleep best at around 16–19°C.
Can I leave a bedroom heater on all night?
Only use a heater overnight if the manufacturer's instructions clearly allow that use, and follow all safety requirements. Keep it well clear of bedding and curtains, never cover it and do not use an extension lead. An auto-off timer is a safeguard, not a guarantee against every risk.
Are fan heaters too noisy for a bedroom?
Fan heaters make noise while moving air, and the level varies between models and settings. If you are sensitive to sound, consider a quieter convection heater or check the fan model in person. Compare noise with warm-up speed and the length of time you expect to use it.
How much does a 2kW heater cost for four hours?
At full output it uses 8kWh over four hours. At 26.32p/kWh, that is about £2.11. This is an estimate using the stated unit rate and assumes the heater runs continuously at full power. A thermostat may reduce actual use, and your tariff may differ.
Can I put a heater beside my bed?
Keep the heater at least 1m from bedding, curtains and other fabrics, and follow any greater distance in its instructions. Place it where bedding cannot fall onto it and where it will not be knocked. Do not block the air outlet or cover the appliance.
Is a wall-mounted bedroom heater safer than a portable one?
Wall mounting can keep the appliance and cable off the floor, reducing some trip and knock risks. It does not remove fire or electrical risks: clearance, correct fixing, socket condition and following instructions still matter. Keep at least 1m from fabrics and never cover the heater.
Should I use an extension lead for a bedroom heater?
No. Plug the heater directly into a suitable wall socket. Extension leads may overheat under a heater's load and create a trip hazard, particularly around a bed. If the socket is not conveniently placed, do not stretch the cable or use an adaptor; seek a safer arrangement.
